Is The Internet A Good Thing ?

Desensitising

despite the use parent blockers for children a lot can still be accessed via the internet,
an idea for sensorship of the internet was introduced lately but too many industries and websites would be damaged by it.
facebook decided to leave 'mexican beheading' video's on their site that where able to view whenever they wanted, a lot of people would not have been phased by this since desesitisation has been made up by the internet and other forms of new and digital media

Social Networking

A typical profile may consist of personal information and photographs
Twitter, facebook, my space, linked in, tumblr
you can find out almost everything about anyone from email accounts, birthday's, phone numbers, height, family, adress......... empowering predators

Cyber Bullying

all forms of cyber bullying are easy using the internet, it is possible to comment on video's pictures, status's and all personal content that someone may put online. it is also possible to use for blackmail because all of this content is saveable or downloadable.
the internet can also be used for peer preassure which can make people do really dumb things.

Piracy / Free Downloads

the easiest way to acquire pirated films and other content is through the internet, torrents, movie hosting websites and what not are easily accessable.

Addiction

PEOPLE GET ADDICTED TO THE INTERNET. RUNNN

Over sexualisation in music videos

The over sexualisation of women in music video’s has been going on for a long time, in ways since music video’s first started being made, one of the latest examples of this could be music video’s such as Rihanna – Stay, in which she spends the entire video in a slightly murky bath without any clothes on. Because music video’s like these are shown on music channels quite a lot they are made visible to young children which in a way de sensitises them to the likes of naked women, although they may not see much rudeness in the video some women (especially from the 19th century) would be highly offended as the imagery does not leave much to the imagination.

More early examples of this over sexualisation in music videos could be ‘Sir Mix A lot- Baby Got Back’ which mainly consists of women “packing much back” and “juicy doubles” although this song could have had a positive effect by attempting to make men more attracted to more curvy women which must be an existing debate because media publications usually show mostly skinny women which supposedly is a reason for why men think women should be very thin. as it says in the video "cosmo thinks you're fat, but i ain't down with that".

although it still has effects that may desensitise young people to certain things, as shown by these inspirationally beautiful lyrics.

I like big butts an' I cannot lie.
You otha brothas can't deny.
That when a girl walks in wit' a itty bitty waist an'
A round thing in yo' face. You get SPRUNG.
Wanna pull up tough, cuz you notice that butt was STUFFED.
Deep in the jeans she's wearin'.
I'm hooked an' I can't stop starin'.
Oh baby, I wanna get wit' ya,
An' take yo' picta.

lovely.

an example where a song that did well in the charts but was not shown on daytime tv because it was so over sexualised was Rihanna S&M that was not on daytime music channels because of the content shown in the music video and lyrics The song peaked at number one in Australia, Canada and Poland, and reached the top five in France, Germany, Ireland, Spain and the United Kingdom. but even though it did well as a song they could not show it before the watershed although the 2 other songs where
