do you believe media institutions should be allowed to gain information through any means possible in order to create news

i think that there are ways in which it iss ok to create news by using websites such as twitter where the person has posted information in a way that is possible for everyone to see is like they are giving their concent

phone hacking is .... bad

so is hacking email accounts

hacking medical records is also unacceptable

it shouldnt be possible to acquier news through bribery although it would be hard to put a law on however the workers for the news shoule be banned from offering to bribe people

hair dressers should be unable to share information to the press, everyone talks to their hair dresser

post and courier services should be more private

there shouldnt be a facebook section that has address and phone number are attatched

social networking sites should not be able to share information as in tweets shoulnt be posted to facebook
Identify how media products from your case study make links with other media platforms.
What are the reasons for these links?
  1. Twitter and facebook pages that allow them to target audiences and engage opinions and communicate with fans. Beneficial for institution and audince. (EXAMPLE)
facebook and twitter are used by literally everyone, it is hard to not get the attention to all types of people or audiences if you advertise a film on twitter or facebook, but it can also be used to raise a 'hype' about a film, direct enthusiasts like the existing fans of james bond films prior to the release of the latest james bond 'skyfall' could have been following the movie's twitter or facebook page, this could be quite a few million followers or likes on a page, once a page accomplishes that many hits it will be shown in a form of 'reccomended' lists and will also be shown as an official page on television adverts and will have a hashtag such as '#Skyfall' or the name of the twitter or facebook page its self, then anyone who sees the billboards, adverts and sometimes hears it mentioned on the radio, as bbc radio 1 is especially into using twitter as a way of engaging with listners. people will search them and usually follow the twitter page even if just to see when the film will be released

  1. Fan made Twitter pages about characters (EXAMPLE)
most films with characters that will be remembered and are easily identifiable for certain reasons such as voice, quotes or just standing out as the funny on ein a film will have an unofficial twitter or facebook page that has been created by a fan, these can get a supprising ammount of followers such as the  https://twitter.com/WolfpackAlan page which is dedicated to the character 'Alan Garner' from the hangover, this page comes out with made up highly entertaining quotes in the style of the character a few times a day, this can create a recurring style advertisment for the film as the twitter page can inspire a few people to watch the film every day and may still be making coppies of the film sell even if it is to a differant audience to the films original audience because of the vast variety of people on twitter

  1. official website that can be used for surveillence or social interaction.(EXAMPLE)

  1. films need to be brands and the website can help out with this.
the lates james bond film 'skyfall' actually seems to be a brand as it is, although it has continuation of actors, themes and storylines and name from all the other it seems that it has stepped away from the name james bond and is mainly referred to as 'skyfall' as its full name and could easily sell merchandise as with the 'Bond phone' made by sony which is actually the Xperia with a few slight changes, there was also a perfume made and some other adverts from fast food companies as well as there probably being official replicas of gadgets used in the film that can be officially made
  1. Videos that fans make can help the institution to advertise the film.(EXAMPLE)

  1. Fan made websites (EXAMPLE)

  1. Film reviews - beneificial to A and to I so they can have feedback. Range of opinions. Website (EXAMPLE) Magazines (EXAMPLE)

  1. Some websites might have character profiles (EXAMPLE)

  1. Links within broadcast too, for example podcasts (EXAMPLE)

Do you believe that there should be more control over social Media?

  • i think that there should still be some freedom of speech on twitter but there should be a way to report abuse for hate towards other people that would get their twitter account banned, but there was a wet case where a man was arrested for tweeting about blowing up an airport http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-19009344 although this was obviously meant as a joke and directed no hate towards anyone he wa still arrested.

  • online bullying may not be meant the way it is percieved by overly sensative people, so it is hard to tell if cyber bullying is actually happening some people might just think abusive tweets are being aimed at them iven if theyre not tagged in the tweet

  • there should not be an option or way of appearing anonimous on other peoples account or when posting pictures or videos onto websites because it would be harder to send abuse

  • social websites should be designed so that you cannot comment on pictures online unless you message the person directly because spam and trolls can be caused my a few people commenting on a pictue as a group

  • youtube and vimeo should not have a comments section beneath the video, there should instead be a link to the owners email, facebook or twitter where conversatione can be had without anyone seeing, there could also be a password system where they cant watch the video unless they have a password to watch the video.

  • “Some people are careless in sharing news without checking the facts first. I remember how so many people posted that a famous singer was dead and it was not true!” this happens constantly on facebook, posts should be deleted perminantly from the entire website if they are not true

  • Majority of photos posted on Instagram are of children, pets, and food. this makes people want children, pets and food !!!

  • should there be a ban on social interraction between young children and middle aged adults online unless theyre related ?

  • people under the age of 16 should not be allowed to join social networking websites, there should also be a mere refined way of finding out the age of facebook users, because getting spammed by 11 year olds is annoying

  • there should be one administrator for the entire internet that is un biased and can take down anything it wants, therefore overly racist films like sex in the city can be wiped from the internet. and also big court stuff like the innocence or muslims could have been deleted within 10 minuets, much easier.

what opportunities and/or disadvantages do new and digital media have for audiences ?

new and digital media has offered significant advantages and disadvantages for its audiences over the time that it has evolved to todays state in the way everyone is connected in a way like never before, i am going to write about how new and digital media have impacted on the film industery's audience and what opportunities it has given them. new social networking websites such as twitter and facebook have given a quick and easy way of interracting with the stars, directors, editors and filmers of new films whether they are art hoyse productions or hollywood blockbusters most of the people to do with the film will have a facebook fan page/personal profile and/or a personal or fan twitter page that themselves or a personal assistant will probably manage, this has made actually talking or just voicing your oppinion to these people possible. but as a disadvantage there are also fake fan pages and even fake personal profiles that anonimous unknown people have made so they can indulge in getting fanmail and pretending to be famous or just like misleading people as a joke, this can sometimes make the internet dangerous as who doesnt want to talk to a celebrity, the problem is that it could be anyone on the other side. there are also video hosting and movie review sites such as vimeo, youtube, and imdb, on these websites you can watch, share and like video's, they may be trailers for films or music video's but they allow you to post in the comments below the video which could lead to discussion where anyone could see what youre talking about, this can allow you to meet new people with the same niche interests as you or have pretty good arguements. websites like imdb are also good because you can influence the rating of a film or post comments that people are more likely to read because it is a more specialised and less spammed website, this can change other peoples views about the film and wheather they will even watch it or not.
Advantages
  1. Easier for the regular person to voice their opinion.  For example with trailers and comments on youtube.  SPECIFIC EXAMPLE FROM YOUR CASE STUDY.

  1. find out information more easily eg:  views, trivia, information about the films.  For example, wikapedia articles.  IMDB for miscellaneous information.
2 FIND FAKE INFORMATION LIKE ON WIKIPEDIA
  1. You can share your life with people.  For example on Twitter and with photos.  Social interaction and discussion.
2 SEXUAL PREDATORS CAN STALK YOU
  1. Validation of your existence and self esteem booster.
PEOPLE CAN INSULT YOU BACK
  1. if you want to be famous it's easier.
YOU MIGHT GET THE TRUTH FROM PEOPLE
  1. You can share your interests and meet other people who have the same passions as you.  youtube posting comments back and forth.  Vital BMX - so people with a similar niche interest can easily find groups of likeminded people.
ANYONE COULD BE FAKING WHO THEY ARE...
  1. For some people they may see it  as freedom to act in a way that they want and to be able to say what they want.   Gives people confidence because they can be anyone that they want.
PEOPLE YOU KNOW COULD FIND YOU ONLINE AND THAT WOULD BE A KNOCK BACK
  1. Allows another platform to access Media - you can watch things on the internet more easily.
